Case study
Carabanchel Creativa
A neighbourhood, mapped by the people living in it.
An interactive map of the cultural and commercial fabric of Carabanchel, in Madrid, built with the IED: editors publish collections through a CMS and the public app draws them as layers over Mapbox — local commerce, the people who sustain it, and the places at risk of disappearing. Built by two, not solo.
GeoJSON native inside the CMS
Rather than storing loose latitude and longitude columns, a feature's geometry is a dynamic zone built from GeoJSON components. A non-technical editor fills in a form and the API emits a valid FeatureCollection the map consumes directly — plus bulk import for the collections that arrived as files, and regeneration on save.
A composed map, and lists that stay smooth
Mapbox GL runs under Leaflet rather than standalone, which kept the plugin ecosystem available, and the side panel virtualises its feature list so a collection of hundreds of points scrolls without dropping frames on the phones people actually walk around with.
